and pains of muscles and joints.
Like your conventional relaxation massage, HSM promotes 'blood flow' which is essential for muscle regeneration. In combination with the heat from the stones this style penetrates straight through the body, giving a sedative effect.

What does a Hot Stone Massage consist of?
Using a Slow cooker / warmer volcanic stones are heated to a temperature of around 50-56 degrees. A trained massage therapist starts by applying oil to the areas of the body to which they will be treating first.
Collecting stone by stone the therapist will apply heat to the client via heated hands to tempur the body, in order to apply the stones affectively without burning or scalding the client.
When the heat from the stones has been depleted the remainer can be utilized, so therapists may plant these around the body to conduct warmth to joints and major muscles inducing relaxation.
Typically, a massage therapist allows the heated stones to rest on trigger points in your body before beginning the actual massage. As the heat from the stones penetrates into your deeper body tissues, your blood vessels open, resulting in improved circulation. Poor circulation can lead to fatigue, which tenses the muscles, and a buildup of fluid and lactic acid in the muscles. Increased circulation delivers more oxygen to the muscles, which can help ease aches and pains.
